The City of Garden Grove is currently hiring for the position ofVIDEO PRODUCTION SPECIALIST (official title: Senior Program Specialist)Under general direction the Video Production Specialist (official title: Senior Program Specialist) performs a wide range of tasks related to the planning, production, and delivery of professional video content for social media, cablecast, and internal use.The ideal candidate for this position: is a skilled and creative professional with a passion for visual storytelling and strong technical video production skills; possesses a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of video production workflows, from pre-production planning to post-production editing; is proficient in operating professional cameras, audio equipment, and lighting setups; thrives in collaborative environments, working effectively with various stakeholders to bring concepts to life; demonstrates excellent organizational skills; adapts quickly to new technologies and trends in video production, consistently seeking ways to innovate and improve content; is dedicated to producing impactful video content that aligns with organizational goals and resonates with target audiences;and be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.Produces high quality videos utilizing a variety of professional equipment, including video cameras, SLRs, phones, lighting, and wired and wireless microphonesDevelops and implements new or revised production ideas, processes, workflows, systems, and operational methods to improve efficiency and qualityExecutes video production projects, evaluates performance, and identifies opportunities for improvementIndependently coordinates complex video production projects, including pre-production, production, and post-production phasesPlans and establishes long- and short-term objectives for video production projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goalsDrafts scripts for informational videos, stories, public service announcements, and other types of videosConsults with legal or compliance personnel on intellectual property, licensing, and other legal matters related to video productionAttends staff meetings, industry conferences, and professional development sessions to stay updated on production trends and techniquesMay supervise staff and contracted talent and provide input for employee evaluationsProvides technical expertise and information to the public or internal stakeholders regarding video production services and processesPerforms other related duties as assignedEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:A Bachelor's degree with major course work in communications, broadcast journalism, English, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in video production, including video capture, editing, and post-production is required.KNOWLEDGE OF:Types, uses and maintenance of television production equipment; pre-production planning including program ideas, treatments and storyboards; writing scripts (i.e., narratives, documentaries, news, promotional and public service announcements); advanced post-production techniques; editing sound and video using non-linear programs such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or Davinci Resolve.ABILITY TO:Set up, operate and maintain television production equipment; design and prepare graphics; translate a variety of written materials into television script format; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; supervise the work of subordinate staff including coordinating, assigning, monitoring and evaluating work and training, counseling and disciplining staff; work independently and meet frequent deadlines; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, personnel from other agencies and City employees.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Must possess a valid California Class C driver license and an acceptable driving record. An acceptable driving record is one that has no more than three (3) points in the last five (5) years, and no more than one (1) DUI in the last ten (10) years.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
