We are looking to add an "Estimator", to our growing electric utility team!
As an Estimator, you will:
Create utility project estimates, act as an extension of our client's team and provide best-in-class service.
Be involved with consulting on select projects where your expertise and guidance is requested.
Providing assistance to Project Management Team as requested.
***This position can be remote in the United States***
On a day to day basis you will:
Create and review thorough scope/design documentation for potential projects including but not limited to a scope document, KMZ files (Google Earth), Transmission Asset Mapping Interface files and FileNet (engineering drawing database).
Create and review substation and transmission line estimates at a project level.
Review supplemental support estimates (Support estimates include Access Roads, Forestry, SCADA/IT Network, Testing and Commissioning, Real Estate, Project Management, Environmental and Revenue Metering.)
Coordinate with other members of the scoping and estimating team, accounting, engineering, sponsors, regional contacts and personnel from the supplemental support estimate staff.
Interpret and review actuals in comparison to estimates.
Assist in the feedback loop from project execution to ensure accuracy is improving.
Attend regional meetings with sponsors, protection, maintenance, and other stakeholders to review the status of all open estimates.
Review/approve/reject estimate requests in OPPM.
Build project schedule timelines for substation, transmission line and support estimates with correct logic.
Required skills, experience and background:
Solid understanding of engineering design / drawing packages.
Solid understanding of substation construction tasks involved with Project Execution.
Solid financial acumen.
High school or GED required
BS degree in engineering or similar technical BS degree is advantageous
3-15 years of estimating experience within electric utility industry is preferred
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is highly preferred
Microsoft Office with strong excel skills (required)
Other Preferred Software Experience:
Sage Estimating software (highly advantageous)
Navigator
OPPM
Google Earth
SAP
Other Preferred Technical Experience:
Experience with substation design, construction, and/or testing (aligned with estimating experience)
Experience with Transmission line design, construction, and/or testing.
Ability to mine and analyze data.
